From Melbourne Auctioneers, Philips Auctions came one of the largest Jewellery Auctions they have held to date.
Philips Auctions recently auctioned off four safes worth of gold and jewellery from the late colourful jeweler and gold dealer Peter Davis. There were over 10,000 items over 1752 lots.
“The Davis collection is worth between $700,000 and $1 million.”*
This online auction ran over 3 weeks from 10th June 2022 to 30th June 2022, with standout pieces such as a stainless steel Rolex Oyster chronographic watch, a Rolex Automatic Explorer II Steve McQueen, and a marquise diamond ring.
The auction platform used in this auction was powered by Bidsonline. Featuring a new design with larger images on a grid-view of 3 items across, in place of our standard 4 lots across design template. Philips Auction also trialled our soon-to-be-released Dynamic Auction Control
panel, which allows you to manage your auction items during their closing.
“Overall the Bidsonline auction program worked well. We worked closely with the Bidsonline team to tweak some design features to cater to our customer’s bidding experience. We’ll continue to work with Bidsonline to refine the auctions system for our future business needs.” said Tony Philips, Auctioneer, and Director of Philips Auctions.
The Davis auctions returned over $1.2 million with some items selling above the modest estimates. The beautiful marquise diamond ring selling for over $7500 and a Rolex Oyster Perpetual C1960s fetching $5950.
Congratulations to Philips Auctions for a positive and successful outcome for the Peter Davis collection.
